Mar 13, 2014. #1. I picked up two super clean 1989 Sears Gamefisher 15hp motors at a flea market the other day. Neither one runs, but both look like brand new and came with the original manuals and hang tags from when they were sold. The impeller fins are straight when new, but they take a "set" from being bent over in the waterpump housing over time, normal, but not good. The impeller should be replaced every 2 years, or if you don't know it's age.

I still have a Gamefisher/Tanaka 3HP and it's a good little motor. I'm guessing that Tanaka made the entire line for Gamefisher, but my 3HP is for sure a Tanaka.
